I fear that your recent decision to remove the free timing page has taken away a major benefit to watching races live, and reduce the number of TV viewers. By running your organization you have given me years of memories and enjoyment. I am a huge Formula 1 fan and would like to thank you, the FIA, for helping all these years to ensure that my passion is available to me. Sometimes expressing it in the frame of "what they want" is a better approach.

How much money does F1 make and they can't even have the foresight to subsidize a software company from the billions of profit to make one poxy app that feeds off data they're already spewing out to build up grass roots interest, particularly in a year where there are massive technical changes so the more help and insight the fans get, the more we might big it up to people who may not be as interested in becoming a fan? I thought Tamara and Petra's shoe bills were going to go down when they got married or is this the Ecclestone grandchildren bill coming home to roost?

For various reasons.alright, I couldn't be arsed.I didn't go and try the PC version but.are we saying Live Timing (even on Java) has been pulled completely now? Wow: they really want us to get involved here, don't they? The other thing is, this should really, really get given as free.

via the Javascript app - as to whether I'd have to switch to a PC but last weekend it didn't work at all. I'm a bit late to this but.I have a rubbishy old (2007) Macbook: it was always a bit hold your breath as to whether live timing worked at all on it - i.e. And as Bernie Ecclestone reaches the twilight of he's epic carrier in charge of the sport, I hope who ever, or what ever succeeds him at the FOM (and I do hope there is a succession plan in place), work together with the FIA, and the F1 teams to make Formula One more accessible, and open to more people, and fans moving forward. Wholesaling broadcasting deals to pay TV channels all across the world, thus reducing viewership, moving F1 to far flung places, with little interest, nor passion for the sport, charging exorbitant fees to attend race weekends, and something small like charging, and on a yearly bases, increasing their charges for a problematic app that in essence should be free, and compliment their broadcast of Formula One, are all little things, and in some instances, major issues that will affect Formula One as a product in the long term. However, the FOM seems to be doing quite the opposite. I feel the letter would be taken more seriously if, the OP mentioned legitimate problems with the App, such as needing to download core updates every time the app is open, cutting out of data during live sessions and what I feel is the generally difficult navigation of the App.Īs an elitist sport in nature, the role of la Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the Formula One Management (FOM), and Formula One teams are to make the sport as accessible to the masses as possible. The FIA is not responsible for the commercial aspects of the sport, if the OP has a genuine beef than the OP should be addressing his concern to the right party. Using the App on a tablet does provide a better experience as there is more screen space than the Java app provided, this means more room for more data. There is a lot of functionality in there if you play around with it. The App does provide more in depth detail than I remember the old Java app providing. Whilst I understand OPs frustration at having to pay for an App, I feel his letter does not make an argument that will be taken seriously, for several reasons: My personal opinion is the App is not as good as the 20 Apps which I thought were quite good. The number pit stops are shown in the App, you just need to turn the phone or tablet into landscape mode for more data.
